Advisory on Misuse of Visa Interview Appointment System
From: U.S. Embassy Seoul, Consular Section, Non-Immigrant Visas, Correspondence Officer
To: Travel Agencies Providing Service to U.S. Visa Applicants
Thank you for your interest in facilitating travel to the United States. Your contributions are valued and play a significant role in ensuring that Korean travelers are assisted with their travel needs. We thank you for your contributions.
This advisory notice concerns a matter related to improper use of the U.S. Embassy appointment system at www.us-visaservices.com. The misuse of this appointment system by travel agencies has become a serious impediment in our ability to offer timely and efficient visa services to our applicants, and ultimately inconvenience bona-fide travelers to the United States. Common practices of misuse include, but are not limited to:
Travel agencies blocking or manipulating appointment slots prior to actual intended applications; or
Forging appointment confirmation letters by altering applicant information, visa classification, appointment dates and times, etc.
The above mentioned and other illegitimate practices clearly violate the trust of the U.S. Embassy, strain government resources and incur financial and personal damage to bona-fide visa applicants. Please note travel agencies that attempt to misuse or have misused the Embassy appointment system in any way will be held strictly accountable for their actions, and visa applications assisted or aided by such agencies will be denied processing. In addition, visa applicants who have had their interviews scheduled illegitimately may be denied visa interviews or worse.
We thank you for your cooperation and support. |
